What is GJS?

GJS was initially set up in 2006/07 by Southampton Solent University and the University of Southampton after funding was acquired via the Southampton Partnership from SEEDA (South East England Development Agency).
The GJS project’s focus was to work with small employers in the Southampton area and to encourage students and graduates to consider and apply for work in Hampshire, thus retaining graduate skills for the regional economy.
The project grew into an online recruitment website focusing on working with small businesses from the Southampton area. Since then, ‘Graduate Jobs Southampton’ has developed into ‘Graduate Jobs South’ embracing new project partners, the University of Winchester, and recognising the location of employers advertising as being wider than Southampton.
The three Careers Services at Southampton Solent University the University of Southampton and the University of Winchester regularly meet to find innovative ways of promoting this unique graduate retention initiative to help graduates find employment related to their studies in Southampton, Winchester and the rest of the South.
GJS also benefits from business support from the Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce, Business Southampton, Southampton City Council, the Federation of Small Businesses and from all of the employers that work with GJS.
