GJS is a joint initiative between Southampton Solent University the University of Southampton, and the University of Winchester to encourage students to find placements, voluntary work and graduate level jobs while they study, and to promote and find opportunities for graduates to remain or return to the region after graduation to work for local companies, helping to grow the regional economy. GJS advertises opportunities and businesses from the 'South central' area of the UK, e.g. the counties and towns of Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey and Sussex.

The graduating force of 2009..... This year's graduates are currently finishing off exams, with most of them finishing their studies by mid-June. It is a great time to advertise for a graduate for your business, whether you have a short-term project or graduate vacancy that needs filling, GJS can quickly and easily find you talented individuals. Government launches 'Graduate Talent Pool' website A new dedicated website, which will match employers with suitable graduates has been launched, and you can register your interest in becoming part of the Graduate Talent Pool online at www.dius.gov.uk/graduatetalentpool. Businesses already signed up to the Talent Pool include Network Rail, the Police Service, Marks and Spencer and Microsoft. FRESH FISHBRAINS FOR YOUR BUSINESS PROBLEMS Fish on Toast, the University of Southampton's student entrepreneur group want to get several local businesses to bring along some 'business problems' to meet a range of locally-based students to work with them during the summer. The business problems can range from a big job, such as developing a new website or doing some programming or a one off consultation where a local business can brainstorm with some bright minds. The event is on 9 June and will cost £30 - with any costs for students being negotiated between the student/s and company.
