Raise your profile as a top regional employer

GJS works in partnership with Southampton Solent University, the University of Southampton and the University of Winchester to help students and graduates, and those from other universities in the UK find graduate level positions within regional businesses in the South.

GJS has a database of 6,000 candidates, 3,000 of which are registered as having graduated within the last 2 years.

Can you help us promote the region and any opportunities you may have in the pipeline? It needn't be a graduate job; it could be a short-term project or placement, whatever it is we want to find you the right person for the job.

Contact meredith.smith@solent.ac.uk to find out more.

Graduate skills can help to sustain and grow your business

Around 11,000 students from the universities of Southampton Solent, Southampton and Winchester have just finished their studies and are facing an uncertain future in the job market as new graduates.

Captain Jimmy Chestnutt, Director General of the Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce said:

"We are concerned that the Southampton region may lose the talented graduates who will be leaving university and looking for employment. Many of our members benefit from the skills that graduates bring as they help to sustain and grow businesses." Read more

Half-hour career speaker volunteering

For volunteering opportunities for your employees that really make a difference but don’t take up much time choose half-hour career speaking. Non-profit broker Growing Ambitions can connect you.

Growing Ambitions offers free volunteer brokerage through http://www.growingambitions.org . Registration takes a few minutes and then volunteers wait for an invitation from a local school, college or university to speak about their job and career. Don’t be disappointed if they don’t get invited straight away. As numbers of volunteer speakers build, more schools join in and speaking dates get closer. Volunteers can negotiate dates and times, and they can opt out – and in again – any time.

For easy volunteer monitoring, Growing Ambitions also offers a volunteering portal for employers’ own websites or intranets. Visit www.growingambitions.org or contact Sally Davis on 023 9266 1600 sd@growingambitions.org
