Dear ##FIRSTNAME##

Welcome to the December edition of the GJS newsletter.

GJS works in partnership with Southampton Solent University, the University of Southampton and the University of Winchester. We work with regional businesses in the South to find students and graduates to help sustain and grow your business.

GJS is working hard to promote regional opportunities and to encourage graduates to return to the region or to stay and start their career. Can you help us promote the region and any opportunities you may have in the pipeline? It needn't be a graduate job; it could be a short-term project or placement, whatever it is we want to find you the right person for the job.

Internships

What are internships?

Internships are work-learning arrangements which employers can offer to new or recent graduates. Most internships generally run between three months to a year. They provide a flexible opportunity for employers to attract new talent into their organisation, whilst giving graduates a chance to put theory into practice and to demonstrate their skills and talents within a work environment.

What are the benefits of taking on an intern?

- bring new ideas, specialised knowledge a fresh approach to your business problems

- highly motivated, eager to learn and have the ability to assimilate new information quickly

- work on projects that busy managers are often unable to devote their attention to

- give one of your junior managers the experience of supervising staff

- cost effective way of recruiting highly qualified graduates.

Intern

How can I advertise for an intern?

The process is quick and easy:

Step 1: Define what project or work needs to be carried out by the intern and what type of training you can offer them. Decide what salary you are able to offer.

Step 2: Post the opportunity on the GJS website by logging in and 'adding a job'.

Step 3: Your advert is advertised on our website and graduates will receive an e-alert.

Step 4: You receive the application and shortlist the graduates.

Step 5: You contact the graduates for an interview.

Step 6: You contact the successful candidate contacted with a start date.

Step 7: Internship period comes to an end – Intern offered a permanent position in your company or you provide them with feedback and an appropriate reference.
