Research has shown that students who participate in work based learning activities experience far greater success in achieving graduate employment.
The University of Southampton’s Career Destinations service has opened a call for applications for its “Excel Southampton” programme. Host employers would provide an intern with the opportunity to develop or work on a project of importance to the long-term strategy of the organisation in addition to providing day-to-day proactive and reactive support to the host.
Through structured internships, students will develop and hone their skills and attributes to a greater extent than might otherwise be possible while contributing to the needs of their host organisation.
This initiative sees the University fund one third of the placement costs over a 12.5 week summer period, running from 1st July to 24th September 2010.
The deadline for host organisations to submit an application is Friday 29th January 2010.
