Graduate Jobs South (GJS), is delighted to announce that they have now successfully placed 80 graduates into internships within the region.
GJS the regional graduate retention initiative, led by Southampton Solent University in partnership with the Universities of Southampton and Winchester - was awarded £128,000 by HEFCE earlier this year to create 80 internships in the Hampshire wide area, to support employers in the Government’s priority areas for economic growth.
The internships, which reflected the full range of employment opportunities available within the region, are for a minimum of 12 weeks helping unemployment graduates gain valuable work experience, with the aim to secure full time employment in Southampton, Winchester and the South.
Gloria Ighodaro from PUSH said: "This scheme has proven just how beneficial it is to appointing graduates because they can offer a different perspective to the role and learn so much prior to working in their chosen career."
Solent University Media Culture and Production graduate, Samantha Hearn, has been hired as an intern with Artswork Ltd. She said: "The scheme is opening doors for me. It’s a great opportunity for unemployed graduates and soon-to-be graduates to get paid work experience and improve their employment prospects."
